Yesterday I hiked to the top of a mountain and sat on the edge of a mountain-high cliff. I can’t remember the last time I felt that accomplished. Having friends around to motivate me makes it so much easier to push myself to keep going. The Stawamus Chief is a mountain in Squamish that has three peaks with different trails you can hike. We decided to start by going to the third peak first and it was so beautiful. It was cloudy but so serene, we were the only people up there besides an overly friendly chipmunk. It took us an hour and a half to get to the third peak then we went to the second which was a little more crowded and decided not to go to the first because there was what looked like a elementary school field trip. Between the third and second peak we found the edge of a cliff and I just found it so exhilarating to sit right on the edge and look down. Going up was easy in comparison to going down. So hard on our knees and all our legs were shaking and it didn’t help that there were children running down the trail just pushing past us. We also ended up off the trail and had to navigate ourselves through the forest pretty much. Despite that it was my favourite hike thus far.
