This weekend was like a dream. My boyfriend and I spent a night in the Fairmont Pacific Rim in Coal Harbour to celebrate his 21st birthday and our 7th anniversary. I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel, everything was perfect. Though it’s a long weekend and there were a lot of families staying at the hotel, it was a quiet and relaxing little stay-cation. After checking in we were pleasantly surprised to know that we were staying on a Gold floor of the hotel that had a private lounge, but the best part was that we got a corner room that overlooked downtown Vancouver on one side and had a partial view of Coal Harbour. I was freaking out over the bathroom, it was definitely my favourite part of our room (second best was the king size bed). We immediately went to the pool to lounge around and have some drinks before going to dinner at Oru, the hotel’s restaurant.

I don’t want to bore anyone with the details but all in all it was one of the best experiences we’ve had as a couple. The staff at the hotel were so kind and courteous, after having our dinner we were surprised by a complimentary lemon tart with “Happy Birthday” and “Happy Anniversary” written on the plate in chocolate drizzle. We ended the trip with a buffet brunch the next morning and stuffed our faces with the best waffles, pastries, house-made bacon, and my favourites; smoked salmon and fresh fruit. To put it simply, it was the most romantic and luxurious anniversary we’ve had to date. Hopefully we can make this a yearly tradition (or even sooner than that) because it was the best escape from reality.
