Squamish Valley Music Festival is just a couple days away now and I can’t wait to have a little trip away with six of my closest girlfriends! I’m sure everyone knows that Sam Smith, Mumford and Sons, and DRAKE (!!!) are headlining this weekend but I’m also excited to see Adventure Club, Kaskade, Porter Robinson, A$AP Rocky, Odesza, and Kaytranada to name a few. Other than the Folk Fest every year and spending one day at Pemberton Music Festival earlier this summer, this will be my first full music festival so I’m not that experienced but here are a few of my tips for preparing for this 3-day long festival.

1. Pack light. Dancing in the middle of a valley in scorching heat is not very fun if you’re wearing layers and layers of clothing. I know everyone wants to look cute but it’s more practical to wear the least amount of clothing possible. I would recommend crop tops and bikini tops and light breathable fabric. Wear comfy shoes like sneakers or sandals.

2. Stay hydrated and wear sunscreen! I sound so matronly but being dehydrated and getting a sunburn would easily ruin anyone’s weekend. (And don’t forget to re-apply throughout the day).

3. Wear a backpack. Rather than a purse or wallet, a backpack allows you to pack more and not worry about dropping or losing anything.

4. Plan your schedule. I don’t know if anything would suck more missing one of your favourite artists playing because you didn’t know when or where they’re playing. Download the Squamish Fest app to get alerts before your favourite artists go on.

5. Be safe and have fun!
